Receive Paid Doula Care
In addition to my personal business, I am a part of three community programs that assist parents through birth and the postpartum period.
Young Women’s Resource Center’s Young Mom’s Program
If you are a young parent or know a young parent under the age of 24, check out the Young Women’s Resource Center’s Young Mom’s Program. This program includes childbirth education, group support, economic resources, doulas, lactation consultations, and much more.
Iowa Department of Human Services
Funded by the CDC, this program is for black parents currently on Medicaid. This program provides doula support as well as medical support from community nurses and CLSs to help reduce black maternal death and increase breastfeeding rates. The doulas in this program are all black identifying women. This program is currently happening statewide, divided by county: Polk, Scott, Dubuque, and Black Hawk. There is a yearly limit on how many families we can serve—currently Polk is full. It will restart in September/October.
In combination with The Doula Network and Health One, there comes a new program for black identifying parents on Iowa Total Care. This program will provide a doula to these parents for their pregnancies, birth, and postpartum. This program features doulas of varying racial, class, and physical location backgrounds. We will be starting July 1 in the following counties: Polk, Muscantine, and Johnson.
